Cunningham set to join Cork selection committee
The County Board has yet to formally ratify the new committee, which will be completed when champions Na Piarsaigh choose their representative.
Last season, Cunningham was brought in by Donal O’Grady to help in a coaching capacity with the goalkeepers on the panel and the belief is that Allen will use his former St. Finbarrs team-mate in an enhanced coaching capacity.
Cunningham is curently a member of the Cork U21 hurling selection committee, which still has a year to run.
His elevation to the senior management would result in him resigning this position.
Na Piarsaigh have given no indication as to who their representative will be, although the speculation is that it will either be former Cork player Paul O’Connor or former referee Joe O’Leary.
Meanwhile, the final of the M. Donnelly Interprovincial football championship between Leinster and Ulster will take place on Saturday in the Stade Yves Du Manoir in Paris at 2pm.
A warm-up game between Paris Gaels and a European selection will precede the fixture at 12.30.
Admission to the game is €10 and tickets will be available at the ground on the day.
Players and officials from both provinces will attend a banquet in the Meridian Montparnasse Hotel on Rue Du Commandant Mouchotte in the Montparnasse area of the City on Saturday evening at 7pm.
Tickets for the banquet will cost 60 per person and there are a limited number available on a ‘first come, first served’ basis.
Tickets can be reserved through Feargal McGill in the GAA Press Office at 01 8363222 or fmcgill@admingaa.ie before Wednesday.
