THE onwards and upward momentum of ladies football was reaffirmed yesterday with the announcement that Suzuki have agreed to sponsor the National Football League for the next three seasons.

The automotive company first linked up with the league competition in 2003 and has renewed one-year deals to back it ever since.

As welcome as that support had been, yesterday’s agreement to commit for three seasons instead of one is a major coup for the ladies game.
