Fearless Wexford ‘can win’

WEXFORD utility player Rory McCarthy - now operating at wing-back - is optimistic that the wait since the Leinster final hasn’t hindered their preparations.

“We’ll find out on Sunday whether the lack of competitive games affects us,” he comments. “It didn’t affect Cork and Kilkenny (respective provincial champions) getting to the final last year.”

Nevertheless, he conceded that it did take Cork a little time to settle in their drawn game with Wexford last year. “They came through well in the second half of that game, whereas in the first half we really put it up to them,” he remarked.
