Browne comes into Limerick defence for minor final

THE Limerick team to play Galway in Sunday’s All Ireland minor hurling championship final shows one change from the side which defeated Dublin the semi-final.

Browne comes into Limerick defence for minor final

Newcastlewest’s Sean Browne comes in at right corner-back in place of Richard McCarthy.

Limerick last won the minor All-Ireland in 1984 when they defeated Kilkenny in a replay with a team that included Anthony Carmody, Gary Kirby, Pa Carey and Ger Hegarty, all of whom went on to play at U21 and senior level.

Carey, who was at the Gaelic Grounds last night to watch the minor team in training, recalled his days as a minor and said winning an All-Ireland medal was one of the highlights of his career.

“It’s been 21 years since we last won the minor title and Limerick needs a win on Sunday to keep the interest among the lads.

“I’ve no doubt a number of the players will graduate to the senior team in time but need this title to spur them on.”
