St Flannan’s opportunity to restore wounded pride

The Ennis college will be picking from the teams which won the White Cup (U15) in 2002 and 2003 and it should give them a slight edge.

However, with the senior win under their belt, Thurles will have no fear of Flannans.

The all-Cork clash of Midleton CBS and defending champions St Colman’s at Castlemartyr should be a close affair.

Local derbies are nearly always hard to call. However, Colman’s will not give up their title without a fight and may just shade this encounter.

De La Salle clash with Coláiste Chríost Rí in Ardmore and should get their campaign off to a winning start.

There is a lot of excellent work being done for hurling in De La Salle, while Coláiste Chríost Rí tend to make football their number one code.

Ballina hosts the meeting of Scarriff CC and Nenagh CBS where the Tipperary school should prove the masters. All games have a 1.30pm start.

At vocational schools’ level, champions Causeway Comprehensive School open the defence of their Munster A SHC title against St Brogans at Fitzgerald Stadium tomorrow.

While this particular grade of championship is played on a league basis initially, the rivalry between these two schools should ensure a lively hour.

There is an all-Tipperary clash at Dr Morris Park, Thurles where Borrisokane and Scoil Ruain will face off.

These two schools always provide a cracker and tomorrow’s clash should be no exception.

Coachford College make the long journey to Ballygiblin to take on Roscrea College and should get their campaign off to a winning start.

All games have a 1.30pm throw-in.
