Ford hits out at Mayo ‘whingers’

PETER FORD has hit back at criticism of his team made by the Mayo football management after their defeat to Galway in Sunday’s NFL semi-final in Castlebar.

Ford hits out at Mayo ‘whingers’

There was nothing to be gained from ‘whingeing,’ he said. Asked after yesterday’s briefing to evaluate Galway’s current style, Ford responded: “Sometimes it’s better for outsiders to judge that. We don’t have much style according to the Mayo management! They are entitled to say what they want but I think it’s ill-advised what they are talking about because I don’t think it’s doing the Mayo players much good and definitely the Mayo supporters aren’t happy to hear people whingeing. I think they’d prefer if they just get on and prepare the team and stop talking.”

Describing assistant (Mayo) manager John Morrisson as ‘enthusiastic and outward,’ he added: “He’s always going to talk and he’s always going to be, I suppose, controversial. If that’s the way he feels fair enough, but I think he’s reading the situation completely wrong.”
