CORK County Board chairman Jim Forbes has categorically denied that the county broke the rules governing the use of sliotars in Sunday’s All-Ireland SHC quarter-final.

In a brief statement issued yesterday, Mr Forbes said he had received assurances from goalkeeper Donal Óg Cusack that the ball used was approved by Croke Park bosses.

“Donal confirmed he was trying to use an O’Neill’s ball.
