Our Lady’s favourites to advance in all-Tipp clash
The most attractive of the two is the all-Tipperary clash at the Ragg between Thurles CBS and Our Lady’s which has a 1.45pm throw-in, while the all-Cork meeting of St Colmans and North Monastery at Watergrasshill will have its own appeal for followers.
On the strength of defeating the holders Cashel CS in round one, Our Lady’s will start favourites to reach the last four. They handed out an eight point drubbing to the holders and in Shane Scully, Michael Ryan and Ian Delaney they have players of exceptional scoring ability.
Thurles are an unknown quantity as they received a bye in round one, but the fact that they fielded two teams in the competition suggests they have an abundance of talent and will make it hard for the Templemore school who have the advantage of a game played.
Tomorrow, North Mon face the might of St Colmans who are reputed to have another excellent squad of players at this age group.
A five point victory over Thurles “B” in round one will give North Mon hope but they will have to be at their very best if they are to topple the Fermoy college who have exceptional players in Ronan Coakley, Aidan Mannix, Padraig Cotter and Michael O’Connor.
In the Moran Cup (Munster U15 “A” FC) St Brendans and St Flannans are in action at Kildimo tomorrow in a quarter-final replay, with the Killarney school fancied to keep their hopes alive of a third title in a row.
In another quarter-final, Tralee CBS and Coláiste Chríost Rí meet out in Glantane tomorrow where the city side will be favourites to advance to the last four.
