Gaelic skills ‘must improve’

THERE is a need for a significant improvement in the basic skills of Gaelic football if Ireland are to win the International Rules Series, according to manager Pete McGrath.

The former Down boss believes the Irish must improve in the kicking, passing and tackling departments if they are to wrest the title from the Australians.

Ten of this year’s squad played Down Under and McGrath agreed that the management was fortunate to again have the likes of Pádraig Joyce (the captain), Seán Marty Lockhart, Ciaran McManus, Graham Canty and Anthony Lynch.
