Eight teams will go into draw barring draws

KERRY will be one of only three of last year's All-Ireland football quarter-finalists to make it through again this year if they survive Kildare's challenge in Semple Stadium tomorrow.

Eight teams will go into draw barring draws

Already through are Galway and Dublin, respective Connacht and Leinster champions - both of whom came through the qualifier competition last year. The five teams which lost out this season are Meath, Westmeath, Derry, Tyrone and Roscommon.

Barring a draw in Thurles - or in the Mayo/Tipperary game in Ennis - eight teams will go into the draw on Sunday night to decide the quarter-final pairings. Joining Dublin and Galway will be Cork, Armagh, Donegal and Sligo - along with Kildare or Kerry and either Mayo or Tipp. The popular belief is that Mayo will triumph in Ennis. Whether it will be a case of Mayo being joined by Kildare or Kerry, there can only be 12 possible pairings - as Galway could not be drawn against Mayo or Sligo, Dublin could not be paired with Kildare, Cork with Kerry or Armagh with Donegal. The semi-final draw for the hurling championship will also be made.
