Cork want to do it ‘the proper way’

AS if the sight of a Tipperary jersey wasn’t motivation enough, Cork will go into Sunday’s Munster SHC final itching to atone for their defeat by Waterford 12 months ago.

The All-Ireland champions suffered a barrage of criticism in the wake of that Semple Stadium defeat. And, if the subsequent win against Tipp in Killarney was where their All-Ireland bid took root, the qualifiers isn’t a path Cork want to revisit.

“Thank God we went on to win the All-Ireland through the back door last year, but that Munster final defeat is something that is in fellas’ minds,” said captain Ben O’Connor yesterday.
