A "huge privilege" is how Pat Mulcahy describes his first full outing as captain of the Cork hurlers in this weekend's NHL clash with Clare.

Having been involved with his club Newtownshandrum's run to the All-Ireland clubfinal, the All-Star corner-back missed the early rounds of the league, but he's now keen to lead his men as the All-Ireland champions approach the competition's business end.

"First off, it's a massive honour to be Cork captain. I've been involved with Cork since 1997, so it's my tenth year, and it's a huge privilege to be captain," said Mulcahy.
