For him nothing else matters. Missing out on a social life doesn't bother him and while he doesn't ever envisage being paid to play the game, he argues that inter-county players should not suffer the penalty of losing money

because of their commitment. "As long as you are compensated, fine. That thing about making money out of it is ridiculous.''
