The last recession was still digging its teeth deep into the country’s economy and it’s very soul when the Federation of Irish Sport peered into a crystal ball and imagined what the landscape would look like eight years down the line.

“It is the year 2020,” the piece began in that year’s annual review by an organisation that represents over a hundred National Governing Bodies (NGBs) and Local Sports Partnerships.
