Things going from bad to worse for Tralee against UCC Demons

UCC Demons inflicted more misery on Garvey’s Tralee Warriors in the Men’s Super League when defeating them 75-70 at a packed Tralee Sports Complex.

It has been a terrible week for the Kerry club who lost a National Cup semi-final to Killester last weekend, with Bosman Janis Dumbers leaving for home and American Jordan Evans also forced to return to the States after picking up a knee injury.

The Warriors led 42-39 at the interval but Demons took control in the third quarter and deservedly held out for a five point win.

The rehearsal of Sunday’s Men’s Cup final proved a huge disappointment as UCD Marian demolished Killester 83-63 at Belfield.

Killester struggled hugely without Spanish star Luis Filberto Garcia Hoyos and were 34-10 adrift after the first quarter.

UCD Marian stalwart Conor Meany however isn’t getting carried away: “We are not foolish enough to think this will be the Killester team we face in the cup final but we put next weekend out of our minds and basically got on with the job in hand.”

C & S Neptune were brought down to earth when they were trounced at home by DCU Saints 100-83. The winners led 62-46 at the interval, with Michael Bonaparte hitting 32 points.

Leaders Templeogue continued with their good form when easing past Maree 94-68.

Dee Proby is slowly gathering momentum for Templeogue and his influence saw the Dublin side lead 45-32 at the break.

Moycullen, who face a serious test to avoid relegation, produced a season-best display to defeat Keane’s Supervalu Killorglin 82-57 with American Isaiah Harris-Wynn chipping in with 21 points.

The season gets worse for Swords Thunder as they lost again at home, this time to Belfast Star who ran out 90-75 winners.

In the Women’s Super League leaders Courtyard Liffey Celtics had little difficulty against Marble City Hawks (68-35).

Singleton’s Supervalu Brunell produced a solid performance before their cup final clash with Liffey Celtics when overcoming DCU Mercy (64-59).

In the Cork derby, Fr Mathews beat UCC Glanmire (82-74) while WIT Wildcats edged out Killester in a thrilling tie (70-65).
