WATCH: Stradbally won the Laois senior title in dramatic fashion yesterday

Most GAA coverage is understandably take up with inter-county competitions but for the true fan, there is nothing quite as sweet as a longed-for club victory.

So when your club wins its first title in more than a decade courtesy of a last-minute goal against the county’s predominant team? Well, wild celebrations are only to be expected.

When Portlaoise were two points up with 30 seconds to go in the Laois SFC county final yesterday, they probably thought their tenth title in a row was in the bag.

Instead Stradbally won possession back and fed the ball up to their full-forward, who buried the ball in the back of the Portlaoise net.

Seconds later the full-time whistle went and the rest is history.

We don’t know who that lad we can hear screaming in the crowd is, but if anyone does know him can they call round with some honey and lemon?

Long may the celebrations last.
