VIDEO: Powerful anti-suicide message targets sportsmen

Entertainment site Rory’s Stories have released a video targeted at young men involved in team sports to remind them that sometimes people who seem fine can be struggling.

We are introduced to Rory - a young man well able to handle pressure on the field, but struggling to cope in his life away from the game.

The video has been released in conjunction with Cycle Against Suicide, a voluntary organisation founded by Irish entrepreneur, Jim Breen as a result of an appearance on RTÉ documentary The Secret Millionaire.

The group aim to raise awareness of mental health in Ireland and signpost people in need to the supports available for suicide prevention.

Their message is simple and powerful: “It's ok not to feel ok; and it's absolutely ok to ask for help.”

To raise awareness they hold an annual cycle around Ireland, the 2015 cycle starts in Belfast on Monday April 27 and will travel throughout Ireland before finishing in Dublin on Sunday May 10.

You can find out more about the work of Cycle Against Suicide and how to participate in the 2015 cycle here.
