Linda Byrne wins Flora Women's Mini Marathon

Linda Byrne, Ireland's Olympic marathon hope, has won the Flora Women's Mini Marathon in a time of 33 minutes 29 seconds.

Thousands of people gathered across Dublin's city centre for the event, the biggest of its kind in the world.

Motorists are being warned of road closures and restrictions, some of which will not be lifted until early tomorrow morning.

Earlier, Freddy Kearon from Kenya won the Cork City Marathon in a time of 2 hours, 22 minutes and 11 seconds.

Angela McCann from Clonmel was the first woman past the line in Cork for the second year in a row. She completed the race in a time of 2 hours, 53 minutes and 2 seconds.
