Pistorius through to semi-finals

’Blade Runner’ Oscar Pistorius insisted he was not a “pioneer” despite qualifying for the semi-finals of the 400 metres on his historic appearance at the World Championships in Daegu today.

The South African, the first amputee athlete to race in the competition, finished third in his heat in 45.39 seconds.
