Son of F1 boss Mosley found dead
The son of Formula One boss Max Mosley has been found dead, police sources confirmed today.
Alexander Mosley, 39, was discovered dead at a property in Notting Hill, west London.
A Scotland Yard spokesman said: "We were called at 16.20 yesterday to reports of a male found dead at a property in W11. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The man is in his late 30s.
"We believe we know the identity of the deceased but we are in the process of informing the family. The coroner's office has been informed.''
Police said the death is not being treated as suspicious.
The Federation Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) this afternoon issued a statement offering its condolences.
"The FIA extends sincere condolences to the Mosley family on the sad news of the death of Alexander Mosley.
"Our thoughts are with Alexander's family and friends, and we would request that the media respect the Mosley family's privacy at this difficult time.''
Police would not comment on reports Mr Mosley - whose grandfather was Oswald Mosley, former leader of the British Union of Fascists - died from a suspected drug overdose at his home on St Luke's Mews.
According to thelondonpaper, Alexander Mosley was seen returning home with another man just an hour before his death.
Neighbour Steve Abrams, 70, a retired psychologist, told the free paper: “I saw two men go into the flat and about an hour later there were rows of police outside and an ambulance. They stayed for a couple of hours and I wasn’t sure what was going on.”
Mr Mosley’s father has attracted international headlines in recent years for his activities away from motor racing. The News of the World published footage of him in an S&M orgy with prostitutes.
But the 69-year-old was eventually awarded a record £60,000 (€67,000) in privacy damages against the paper last year over claims it was a “sick Nazi orgy”.
He said the ordeal left him out of pocket and caused irreparable damage to his reputation.
Max Mosley had been due to fly to Spain for this weekend's Grand Prix but cancelled his trip after the tragedy.
