Irish pair exit Star class sailing series

It was an exciting day in Qingdao where Peter O'Leary and Stephen Milne produced another top ten result in the Star class to place 8th in their first race of the day.

Racing started early and remained on schedule to conclude the opening series in the Star class.

With the conclusion of the Star class opening series, the Irish pair finished 13th overall on 91 points.

As only the top ten boats compete in tomorrow's Final Medal Race, they exit the 2008 Olympic Regatta at this point.

Sweden’s Fredrik Loof and Anders Ekstrom currently lead the fleet with Iain Percy and Andrew Simpson of Great Britain just two points behind.

Counting four top-ten race finishes in their first Olympic Regatta, this young pair have shown the world that they can compete at the highest level.

With an Olympic campaign less then twelve months old, the pair are aiming for the London Games in 2012.

In the opening series O'Leary & Milne count 6th, 12th, 7th, 10th, 12th, 13th, 8th, 11th, 12th and discard 13th.
