Williams lands Toyota engine deal
Williams have secured a three-year supply of Toyota engines, which they believe will propel them back to the front in Formula One.
The former world champions have struggled this year with customer Cosworth engines after splitting with BMW last year, but will switch to Toyota power in 2007.
Team owner Frank Williams, who last won a world title in 1997, is convinced a supply of works engines is crucial to their ability to compete at the very top in Formula One.
“This agreement is the cornerstone of Williams’ challenge for the world championship,” he said.
“Toyota is an impressive and remarkable industrial giant, with the most phenomenal reputation for achieving the goals it sets itself.
“We are proud to have secured their support in our efforts to return to our competitive best.”
