I'm all right - Jacques
Jacques Villeneuve believes he can continue to improve now he has finally broken his duck at Sauber.
The 1997 world champion has come in for fierce criticism since returning to Formula One late last season with Renault prior to his winter move to Sauber.
In six races he failed to score a point and looked out of his depth but last weekend at Imola he showed a significant improvement to take sixth place.
Now he wants Sauber to further improve their car, particularly in the traction control department, before next weekend’s Spanish Grand Prix so he can once again silence the doubters.
He said: “The main goal is really to keep the momentum that we have now and to work in the same direction as we did in Imola. I am convinced that this will enable us to make further progress.
“There is potential for more to come. This was only the first step with the traction control. I am sure that we can further optimise it.
“We will do more testing this week in Fiorano, and one part of the programme is to work on the traction control.
“I never had any doubts, but I believe that this result will make everybody more positive and life easier in general.”
