Lewis: Bruno must learn to love himself
Lennox Lewis has urged Frank Bruno to help his recovery from psychiatric problems by showing the same love for himself that he shows for others.
Former heavyweight champion Bruno was sectioned this week and is recovering in a Essex hospital.
Lewis believes Bruno will help himself and by learning from the "positive effects" he has on his fans - and suggested he becomes a trainer to keep his sport central to his life.
"People love Frank Bruno - and as so many people love him, he should love himself with the effect he has on people when he meets them," said Lewis.
"He helps them in a very positive way. It's a sad situation at the moment and you can only wish him the best and hope he gets things sorted out.
"Sleeping in his ring shows how much he misses boxing - so he should get involved with a young boxer and help him achieve his dreams."
Lewis, who will confirm whether or not he himself is retiring in the new year, urged Bruno to shelve his comeback plans - and calls on the boxing authorities to do more to help former fighters.
"Frank's had his best days and I'd tell him not to come back and try to be champion again," Lewis told BBC Radio Five Live.
"It must be a terrible time for him. All boxers think about the future but they're only as good as their last fight - as once you lose, what will you do?
"All boxers think about what they will do when they stop - but we could do better, look into these situations and look after the interests of boxers."
