Lloyd moves into last sixteen of World Championship
Colin Lloyd moved into the last sixteen of the PDC Stan James World Matchplay Open with a 10-7 comeback victory over Mick Manning.
'Jaws' had to dig deep into his locker to find the doubles after struggling to finish early on falling 7-4 behind.
The World Number eight then proceeded to win the next six legs to book his place in round two.
The first four legs went with the throw as both players found their rhythm.
However, that was to change with Londoner Manning stealing the throw from Lloyd with an impressive 110 out-shot to seize the initiative with a 3-2 lead.
Manning then took advantage of some poor doubles from his opponent and surged into a 7-5 advantage.
Things looked glum for Lloyd but the latter proved his class and finished on a 'Mad House' D1. It proved to be a turning point.
Lloyd found his form and surged to victory winning the next five legs leaving a disbelieving Manning to exit the tournament at the first hurdle.
Lloyd reflected on his win after the match admitting that he was not at his best but was glad to get through.
"I felt good when I woke up this morning," said 'Jaws'. "I didn't play great today. The first half of the game I missed a few doubles.
"I started thinking am I going to hit the double? And saying to myself 'keep going the way you are and the doubles will come'. I am over the moon."
Lloyd will now face either Roland Scholten or Paul Williams in round two.
