The Paddy Byrne Cup tips off this Saturday in the University Arena, Limerick this weekend.

The perpetual Wheelchair Basketball Cup is in its 12th year, but was cancelled last year due to Foot and Mouth disease outbreak.

The Belfast Crusaders and the Dublin 99er's are in action in the first semi-final at 11:30am on Saturday.

2002 Irish Basketball Player of the Year, Chris O'Neill will be lining out for the Crusaders, while player coach Paddy Forbes will be in action for his best season to date.

The second semi-final will see the Belfast Cavaliers back to defend their title, won by the team in 2000.

The Cavaliers are in action against Michael Cunningham's squad, Dublin Panthers at 12:30.

The final tips off at 2:30pm followed by the end of season awards.

Paddy Byrne was a young Garda who went on to work for the disabled Federation of Ireland. He was a volunteer for various disabled sports for many years including athletics and basketball, before his untimely death aged 44 years.
