Snooker: Doherty to meet Stephens in UK C'ship Q/Finals

Ken Doherty maintained the 100% record of the world's top eight players at the UK Championship as he beat Dominic Dale to reach the quarter-finals.

Doherty's 9-3 victory means he will meet Matthew Stephens in the quarter-finals.

The Dubliner led his Welsh opponent 6-2 overnight and although Dale won the first frame of the concluding session, it proved his only joy and Doherty claimed three in succession.
