Motorsport: Faulkner nets second Indy lights win
Ireland's, Damien Faulkner, scored his second victory in the Indy Lights series at Oregon over the weekend.
It was his second win in three events and as a result, he has moved into third in the hotly contested championship.
Rain made the track very slippery and a number of drivers were off, albeit briefly.
Denmark’s, Kristian Kolby led at the start but he was harried by a persistent Faulkner.
Meanwhile, the Donegal driver's Dorricott team mate, Townsend Bell and Derek Higgins were down in eighth and ninth places. With consistent pressure from Faulkner, Kolby spun off and Faulkner was able to dictate the pace.
Once the caution period ended, Faulkner cruised to victory.
Afterwards he commented, "The race was very tricky and I was kept busy all the time. The early laps were treacherous and I was off the road a couple of times but held it together and was able to catch Kristian.
"Once he went off and I had the lead I drove well within myself. The track was really slippery, so I concentrated on not making any mistakes and making it safely to the finish."
On his championship chances, he added: "It’s fantastic to have three wins from five starts and I knew I would go well on the road courses, but I’m not thinking in terms of the championship just yet. I’m just going to keep my head down, keep scoring as many points as possible and the championship will take care of itself."
