Premiership: Campbell woe for Spurs
Captain Sol Campbell is out of Tottenham's home game with Premiership basement boys Bradford City.
Campbell was forced off during the FA Cup semi-final defeat against Arsenal at Old Trafford.
The Spurs skipper was already doubtful for that game after injuring his left ankle playing for England in Albania, and he was unable to carry on after straining the ligaments in his other ankle.
Manager Glenn Hoddle conceded that Campbell and three other players, Tim Sherwood, Stephen Carr and Oyvind Leonhardsen would probably not have featured if it had not been an FA Cup semi-final.
With Les Ferdinand also injuring his hamstring, he must make several changes for the Bradford match even if it will now be a rather lower-key homecoming to White Hart Lane than if Tottenham had beaten Arsenal.
And Hoddle has warned his men they are playing for their futures at the club.
He said: "By the end of the season, I'll know a lot more about my players, who can pass, who has got the temperament under pressure and who fits how I'm looking to play.
"I've always thought that was the benefit of coming in before the end of the season. I'd be ahead of the game in whether to bring players in and the assessment of my own players."
Bradford centre-back David Wetherall faces an anxious wait for the results of a scan which could lead to the threat of a second groin operation.
The former Leeds ace definitely misses the trip to North London.
Wetherall only returned to the Bradford side at the end of February after initial groin surgery which led to a three-month lay-off following his run of playing in every minute of the club's 52 previous Premiership matches.
But just four games into his comeback, the injury has flared again, and boss Jim Jefferies revealed: "He will get it checked out.
"It's too early to say whether he will need another operation. But he will get it looked at and have a scan for his peace of mind."
Jefferies is also without Ian Nolan, Jamie Lawrence and Gary Locke through injury, and given the threadbare nature of the squad following 12 recent departures on permanent or loan deals, is down "to the bare bones."
Striker Ben Jones, midfielder Andrew Lee and defender Lewis Emanuel, teenagers who only signed professional contracts last week after coming through the ranks, have been added to the squad.
Robert Molenaar is also struggling with a toe injury, and with Wetherall sidelined, it could leave Jefferies without a recognised centre-back for the game.
