Beckham dismisses 'greedy' claims

David Beckham insists he is not greedy and says the rumours of his sky-high pay demands at Manchester United are rubbish.

He has said he has not asked for any sum or turned down any offers.

Beckham's agent was quoted in tabloid newspapers as asking for £160,000 per week for his client.

But Beckham now says he will thrash out a deal at the end of the summer, and he says he won't be greedy. He adds his priority is to help United to win the treble and to help England to qualify for the World Cup.

The 26-year-old said: "There have been a lot of misleading rumours concerning negotiations on my new contract and I would like to put the record straight.

"The truth is that no discussions have taken place between me or my representatives and Manchester United. Suggestions I have turned down certain offers and am making bigger demands are just not true.

"I want to reassure fans that I have not fallen out with the club, nor will I be greedy."
