Henry determined to end 'boring' title chase
Arsenal striker Thierry Henry believes the rest of the country are behind the Gunners in their determination to stop the title race becoming "boring" again.
Manchester United are almost unassailable at the top of the Premiership after extending their lead over Arsenal to a massive 11 points over the holiday period.
Arsene Wenger's side did manage to claw back a 12-point gap when they won the Double almost three years ago, but that comeback relied upon an unbeaten post-Christmas League run.
And with Arsenal not being prepared to spend large amounts on new signings until the transfer system is resolved, they will need a dramatic transformation in their form, especially away from home, to recover a second time.
Henry wants to ensure that the title race is at least competitive and unpredictable, unlike last season when United romped away to win by 18 points.
He said"It's frustrating when I have to see Manchester United far away from us all the time.
"It would be so nice to catch them because the fans would be happy and it would be nice for the whole country as Manchester United are always so far away and it's never that interesting to see.
"It's like when Ajax always used to win the Dutch league by five, 10 or 15 points. I want to keep the gap very close between Manchester United and us.
"We have to try our best because it's a bit boring all the time with Manchester United always being in front. If you ask anyone in the country whether they will win each Saturday, everyone has to say 'yes'."
Henry knows it is United's away form, as well as their level of consistency, which has set them apart from any of their rivals in terms of results.
He does not believe Arsenal are the only potential challengers on the horizon, citing Liverpool and Sunderland, as well as Leeds in a couple of years' time.
However, he insists that Arsenal, who lost 1-0 at Charlton on New Year's Day and have won away from home just twice in the League all season, must start to ensure that other teams fear them as much as United.
"People have to be scared of Arsenal, like they are of Manchester United," maintained the 23-year-old striker.
"Some teams don't even try against them because they are scared. They just say 'how many are we going to concede today - one, two, three?'
"That's what I want with Arsenal as well. They are scared when they come to Highbury, but not when we are away."
