Templeogue boss Mark Keenan braced for Killester battle

Sunday’s Dublin derby clash between Templeogue and Killester is the standout fixture of this weekend’s Men’s Super League programme.

Templeogue boss Mark Keenan braced for Killester battle

Templeogue, one of the title favourites, enjoyed a winning start to the season with a 13- point victory over DCU Saints but coach Mark Keenan predicts a much sterner challenge at Oblate Hall (3.30pm).

“With no disrespect to DCU Saints I do feel Killester will test us as they posed us a few problems last season and we will need to be at our very best to get over them,” Keenan said. Killester lost to Swords Thunder in their opener and will be keen to claim such a prized scalp so early in the campaign

UCD Marian were also impressive when defeating Éanna and they will relish the visit of UCC Demons to Belfield for the battle of the colours.

Demons beat Irish TV Tralee Warriors last Friday night but must plan without Niall Murphy who picked up a knock at training.

UL Eagles were unlucky to lose out to a Conor Johnson buzzer beater against Belfast Star and the Limerick side will be expected to gain maximum points against Kubs at the UL Arena. Winless Éanna should find the going rather tough when they host the highly rated Griffith Swords Thunder.

Thunder produced champagne basketball in the first half against Killester and coach Dave Baker is hoping his well-balanced side are not complacent going into this game. He admitted: “I was happy with aspects of our game against Killester and I will expecting much the same against Éanna as you cannot take any side for granted.”

Irish TV Tralee Warriors are without Kieran Donaghy, due to football commitments, for their home clash with Belfast Star and Moycullen hope to make it win number two when they host DCU Saints. In the Women’s Super League the champions UCC Glanmire open their programme away to Portlaoise Panthers.
