Turner (42) has been sidelined for the past three years in his case with Basketball Ireland relating to a category license issue.

The Killester American chipped in with 28 points of which 16 were amassed in the final quarter as coach Jonathon Grennell praised his team’s resilience.

Grennell said: “We were without Michael Westbrooks and Kieran O’Brien and to win in Cork against Neptune is no mean feat with a depleted squad.

“Neptune have a cushion of having two Americans in their squad and although they can only use one it gives them a huge advantage.

UL Huskies coach Paul Kelleher introduced new American Orlando Parker but it proved fruitless as DCU Saints 96-62 demolished them.

The Saints were thrashed in their opening game by Killester but since then have recorded two wins much to the delight of veteran coach Joey Boylan: “We did not play well against Killester but since then we have shown our true form and I am delighted with the progress made we are making as a team.”

UCD Marian narrowly lost their opening two games to Killester and Dublin Inter but bounced back to record an impressive 79-56 win over Templeogue who are still in search of their first win.

UCD captain Conor Meany, who finished with an impressive 18 points, praised his teammates for the manner they overcame this potential banana skin.

Meany said: “When you are looking for your opening win of the season after being unlucky losers in your previous two games it can be a tough assignment but the guys showed great maturity from tip off.”

C & S UCC Demons made the long trip north and defeated Belfast Star 88-72.

Demons put this game to bed in the first half when commanding a 52-26 interval lead with American Lehmon Colbert contributing 23 points.

Star introduced new American signing Ricky Lee Taylor who played in the BBL with Newcastle Eagles but the rampant Leesiders gave him a tough baptism.

In the Women’s Premier League Liffey Celtics recorded their opening win of the season when surprisingly defeating WIT Wildcats 66-50 at Leixlip.

Meteors remain unbeaten following their thrashing of former champions UL Huskies 82-59.

Singletons Supervalu Brunell produced a solid brand of basketball to defeat Killester 69-51 with Katie Hannemann finishing with an impressive 23 points.

Champions Team Montenotte had a difficult away game at DCU Mercy but Mark Scannell’s side ran out impressive 68-54 winners.

After a slow start Montenotte led at the break 35-25 and were always in control much to the relief of coach Scannell.

“DCU Mercy are a tough side to defeat on their home court and I am pleased we managed to see off their blistering start as they will defeat many teams in this campaign when Lindsay Peat returns,” Scannell said.
