Postman delivers for Lynch

Trainer Kieran Lynch must have left Curraheen Park on Saturday night a very satisfied man after his Madam Shaw posted the fastest time of the night and Postman Ray claimed the most notable of sprinting scalps.

Postman delivers for Lynch

Postman Ray was up first and he and his rivals looked to face an uphill task against Irish Sprint Cup winner Cambushmore. But when the last-named missed his kick, Postman Ray took the opportunity to slip clear.

The Rebel Postmen Syndicate's dog has really taken to sprinting in recent weeks and he led around the bend as the odds-on favourite made significant inroads. Narrowly in front turning for home, he battled tenaciously to deny the run of Cambushmore by the minimum margin in 17.70.

The Lynch double was complete when Madam Shaw, who was a finalist in the Southern Oaks at Youghal recently, produced the performance of the night in the Upcoming Connolly's Red Mills Laurels A1.

The bitch came out under the bars and amassed a near four-length advantage by the time she turned out of the second bend.

After racing further clear down the back, she always looked likely to hold the run of the eye-catching Fleetwood Jewel and she did so by a length and a half in 28.50.

Money Talks' Laurels prep gathered pace when he landed the Broadstrand Lad and Droopys Cain at Stud Getting Out Stakes for trainer Paul Hennessy.

Narrowly beaten on his Curraheen debut a week previously, he didn't break as well this time but had the pace to surge clear in the early stages. Well in command at halfway, he raced home a couple clear of Rival Reward, in 28.65.

Another notable performance came from Burgess Larry in the Find Us On Facebook A3.

Twice a winner at Youghal track last week, the second of which came on Friday night, JJ Fennelly and Sheila Spillane's dog displayed his rude health and versatility by completing his hat-trick inside a week, with a typically strong display.

The 6-4 favourite raced in second place behind the pace-setting Blazing Benny before hitting the front at the third bend. Out of a half-sister to prolific sprinter Goblet Fire, he stretched nicely clear in 28.85.
