Two touchdowns either side of half-time from Hakeem Nicks andanother from fellow wide receiver Mario Manningham in the fourth quarter, combined with a strong defence and an increasingly successful running game ensured a 24-2 victory, giving Eli Manning’s Giants hope that they can dethrone the formidable Packers at Lambeau Field.

Joining them in the last four of the NFC, Drew Brees and the NewOrleans Saints produced yet another eye-opening performance on Saturday night in a 45-28 victory over Detroit and they will march on with confidence to San Francisco where they will face they 49ers next Saturday.

“We were pulling out all the stops,” Brees said. “We play aggressive. We’re not going to apologise for that.

“That gives guys in the huddle a lot of confidence. We’re not going to pull the reins back.”

In the earlier game on Saturday, the Houston Texans set up a trip to the Baltimore Ravens next Sunday after their relatively straightforward 31-10 victory over the error-prone Cincinnati Bengals in the first of the two AFC wild card games.

Andre Johnson’s touchdown after a 40-yard pass from TJ Yates along with running back Arian Foster’s two touchdowns and 153 yards as well as a strong defensive display had Reliant Stadium rocking and the fans confident ahead of next week’sdivisional round showdown.

“I’m just very proud of all the guys, and the job they did,” Texans coach Gary Kubiak said.

“Hopefully, there are some more to come.”
