Tyrur team look poised for a good night at Shelbourne

ON a relatively quiet weekend for greyhound racing, the focus falls on at Shelbourne Park this evening as many leading trackers flex their muscles in preparation for a crack at the upcoming Tote Gold Cup.

The programme also provides the punters with a real challenge as the Pick 6 Jackpot is guaranteed to €20,000.

The best contest on the card is probably the concluding Open 550 and this should prove a big betting race with many high profile kennels represented.

The likes of Tyrur Domingo, De Ex Factor, Slippery Bob and Johnny Whitesox, are all capable of mounting a bold bid, while the likely outsiders, Christmas Box and Oran Jaguar, can’t be taken too lightly either.

The draw would certainly favour Johnny Whitesox, but he will need to be at his brilliant best in the early stages.

Should the likes of De Ex Factor or Tyrur Domingo turn close they would be very difficult to contain.

Slippery Bob is also entitled to plenty of respect, but a terrible draw in trap five could work against Larry Dunne’s exciting prospect.

Elsewhere on the card the “Tyrur” team of Conor and PJ Fahy are capable of having numerous winners with Tyrur Lohan, Tyrur Carey, Tyrur Valdez, Tyrur O Gorman, Tyrur Edward and Tyrur Thursday all holding strong claims in their respective contests.

The second race over the minimum distance could be one of the contests of the night. The hugely promising Busters Choice is likely to contest favouritism, but he faces his stiffest test yet with leading two benders Burn Em Up and Lily Mayday to contend with as well as talented four bend trackers Fane Basher and Kilmalady Torres.

There will be some high profile pre Tote Gold Cup trials prior to racing with the likes of Champion Stakes winner Makeshift and his kennel companions Razldazl Lord and Razldazl George set to appear.

The Michael O’Donovan trained St Leger third Judicial Academy is also Tote Gold Cup bound and will be one of the favourites on the evidence of his flying 28.43 trial spin before racing on Thursday evening.
