LIMERICK’s hoping to buck the trend and promote a soaring basketball success with a new Men’s Superleague outfit, the UL Eagles.

Reidy hoping that link up between UL and Eagles will reap reward

The University of Limerick Eagles will be sponsored by the third level college.

UL marketing director Sean Reidy said: “UL is delighted to join up with the Limerick men’s team as part of supporting men’s super league basketball in Limerick and also creating & developing links from the University to the wider community.”

The coach of the UL Eagles is Tony Hehir who comes into the job after many successful years coaching in the Women’s Super League. Hehir is able to call on most of the players from last season which sees Rob Lynch, Neil Campbell, Stephen King, Aidan Holden and Scott Kinnevane all back for the new season. Younger Irish players in are Andy Dawson, Bobby Reidy and Mark Paulaskas. The UL Eagles have their first home game on Saturday against Hoops at 7pm in the UL Arena.
