Talking Point can advance AIB claims
Trained by Owen McKenna (inset), this promising sort is unbeaten in the stake to date, recovering from a tardy start to follow up his 28.73 first round success in 29.70 last week.
Talking Point is capable of breaking better and a return to an inside trap is another plus.
Tyrur Bucko, a five and a half lengths runner-up behind Talking Point, should again go well, along with Hisworkislaw who carded 28.76 before finishing second in 28.46 last week.
The second semi-final promises a cracking duel between rising stars Bua Dearg and Kilmalady Torres, with the former given the nod.
Bua Dearg has done nothing but impress in recent weeks, displaying impressive all-round pace en route to 28.57 and 28.46 wins, and can shrug off a trap four draw.
Kilmalady Torres recovered from mistimed exit to make it two from two in the stake in 28.71 last week, having posted a 28.77 run in the opening round.
He too is an exciting prospect but will need to improve his trapping skills.
The opening semi-final is tricky to call but a little on Olympic Baretop might reap a reward. Paul Hennessy’s runner was nicely backed when an unlucky third behind Talking Point last time and the make up of the race could work in his favour.
