Bumbling Bramble buoys our Mackem army

EVEN though Sunderland fans once again proved we’re the best in the land at Dave Whelan’s corporate soccer arena on Saturday, there was huge support for the club before we arrived en masse to the north west at the weekend.

Wigan FC had decided that their rugby team couldn’t play their Friday night play-off match at the JJB for fear of it ruining the pitch. I’m assuming that a bunch of egg-chasers trampling over the turf would put it in the same sort of state that Steve Bruce doing a Klinsmann on it would.

Anyway, Wigan’s opponents Bradford thought they’d show their support for SAFC after they were shafted, with their fans spending large chunks of the Friday game chanting for us.
