Down in class Kate looks the part

THE well drawn Ballyverry Kate looks the part in the Waterfront Kitchens A1 Stakes, the feature at tonight’s benefit meet at Curraheen Park, in aid of Passage GAA Club.

The selection has failed to trouble the judge in her last three starts, but has her sights lowered and can make the most of the opportunity.

A winner of nine of her 33 starts, Ballyverry Kate boasts an impressive strike-rate at this venue, winning six of her 17 outings. And it’s also worth noting that Ballyverry Kate has won on the three occasions she has raced from a trap one draw here, including posting a 29.74 effort (550) in August.

The progressive Watch Out Jess reads the danger. Donal Leahy’s runner is a winner of nine of his 19 outings and finished a place ahead of Kate when third to Scarty Lad in an Open last week. Ballyverry Kate encountered traffic problems from a trap four draw then and a switch to the rails can enable her reverse the placings.
