Merry Monk add to students’ woes
With the rush for a place in the play-offs getting under way coach Terry Kennedy was happy with the performance.
“I think we played well last night. Ronan McGarrity and Robert Taylor both had 23 points with Jay Marriott on 14 and Chris Smith on 11 and there were two other players on 10 so the scoring was pretty well distributed,” he said. “We led all the way and had a 10 point cushion at half time.
“But we won’t have Ronan for next weekend’s game against Tralee as he is going on holidays with the Mayo footballers and while we have been without him for a lot of our games this season, we would have liked to have him on the floor for this one.”
When they met a couple of weeks ago Tigers sent Merry Monk tumbling out of the national cup on the wrong side of an amazing scoreline and Terry Kennedy would like to see his side avenge that defeat.
After the thrilling final in Castleisland on Saturday, both Mustang Sallys and Abrakebabra Tigers will be in action in the NIVEA for MEN SuperLeague during the week.
The Killarney side will host Limerick Lions who will have Matthew Hall taking on his new role of player and coach on Tuesday night at the Presentation Gym while on Wednesday night the game between Tigers and UCC Demons — parading their new signing Lashon Sheffield — has all the ingredients to produce a thriller.
