Irish duo finish sixth in double-handed 420

IRELAND’S Tuathal Mac Colgáin and Peter Duggan yesterday achieved a major milestone for Irish sailing when they secured sixth place and a personal best in the boys double-handed 420 class at the 2006 Youth Sailing ISAF World Championships at Weymouth in England.

Although they started well yesterday morning, they lost out on the second beat to finish 14th in the last race.

The boys were aiming for a top 12 position and are naturally delighted with their overall result. With their performance improving all season, their preparation paid off as they peaked for this international competition.
