After watching the Dublin-Galway match outside the TV box in Páirc Uí Chaoimh on Sunday, Joanne Cantwell, Jackie Tyrrell, Joe Canning and myself made our way up to the box in front of the city end terrace in Páirc Ui Chaoimh just before the throw-in.

The place was packed but the atmosphere felt strange, almost weird — muted, pensive, like everyone was a little on edge. The place was splashed in red but it was if the ground was draped in grey.
