OVER 20 years ago Fr Peter O’Loughlin and I went to the west Clare board about trying to form a west Clare hurling club. We didn’t just go on a whim. We had a firm plan in place, which we outlined in full detail to all the delegates.
We offered to try and source a piece of land for a pitch, whereby we would look for grants to fund whatever we needed to try and firstly have a home. We wanted to call the club West Clare Gaels, where every lad, young and old, who wanted to hurl could come.
