Social media may well be a morbid hellscape, but even a broken clock can tell the right time twice a day. Amidst all the war and death, and all the misinformation about war and death, on the sporting front there is a fair amount of well meaning, cargo-cult expositions of forced laughter and respect.
Whether it's the All Blacks doing some baggage handling or the Dubs sweeping changing rooms, it's just as difficult to escape all the performative do-gooding as it is the live streaming of potential war crimes. That both live in the same world on a four-by-two inch screen in our pocket speaks to the Orwellian absurdity of modern day life.
