Wenger wrong to trust players

Paul Scholes got one thing wrong. In most respects, his savage takedown of Arsenal on his Sky Sports punditry debut was as measured as one of those never-learned-how-to-tackle-ho-ho-ho ankle crunchers he liked to leave on the likes of Jose Reyes.

Just one thing didn’t ring true: “They wonder why they’re in the position they’re in.”

The wondering has long ceased. It might even be the wondering that Arsenal miss most.
