The sixth year straight the Galway hurlers’ fail to make an All Ireland semi-final and the sixth year straight Waterford do.

There were so many story lines and sequences born and broken this past weekend, to just zone in on the one, as is this column’s custom, would not be nearly as fair or as much fun as trying to make sense of them all and more besides. Here are eight things we learned over the weekend.
