THE weather is again playing absolute havoc with the Irish greyhound schedule and numerous meetings have been ruled out this week.

Weather continues to play havoc with schedule

For the second successive night there was no racing in Ireland last night with the big meeting at Harold’s Cross falling victim to the snow storm which hit the east coast while Curraheen Park and Tralee also failed to race.

There will be an inspection at Shelbourne this morning to see if tonight’s all-final 12 race card can proceed but the meetings at Clonmel and Drumbo have already cancelled. Drumbo have also called off their Thursday meeting.

The Clonmel meeting arranged for this evening will now be run next Thursday, December 30 while the card from last Sunday will be run on Sunday, January 2.

The Drohans Bakery A2/3 Tri Distance, which was due to commence on December 30 will now start on Thursday, January 6.

There will be unofficial trials at Clonmel next Wednesday and official trials after racing on Thursday next.

The meeting scheduled for Galway tomorrow has been cancelled and all trials this week have also been called off.

The Curraheen card for Thursday next is already available on the IGB website.

The Limerick FC benefit meeting is due to go ahead at Limerick this evening and a big crowd is anticipated for the last meeting of the year at the new stadium.

Declan Dowling, General Manager at Tralee, was very hopeful yesterday that tomorrow’s big meeting featuring the final of the Greyhound & Petworld Kingdom Derby can proceed. He said: “The snow hit here this morning and the track isn’t bad. The roads are out biggest problem but things should be okay for Thursday night”.
