What about the players stuck in middle of these GAA disputes?

I THINK it is a great pity that Limerick’s young guns, after a spirited fight, did not manage to draw against Offaly in their League clash in Tullamore on Sunday.

These young lads are the forgotten party in the ugly ongoing dispute between their seniors and embattled Justin McCarthy and the Limerick County Board. They are the lads that are caught between a rock and a very hard place. They have been on the relegation road all Spring and have learned what drubbings taste like. A draw would have given them some solace and inner confirmation of their worth. They came close enough and if those efforts from Browne or McKeogh had gone over the bar in the dying minutes of the clash they would have gained the draw they maybe deserved.

You have to feel for them. They are young and they want to play for their county and, as I say, they are the lads caught between a rock and a hard place. One wonders, when this ugly fracas is eventually settled, if it is ever settled, what will be the longtime impact on their careers.
