Dr Crokes weren’t out of the championship. Their bid for five-in-a-row was still alive through the backdoor but a serious dent was put in their ambitions by Rathmore in the first round of the 2014 Kerry championship, which was Crokes’ first loss in the competition since South Kerry beat them by one point in the 2009 county final.
